Dear Brothers and Sisters,
For months people have been asking us about
Calimyrna figs. Am delighted to say that just now, at the
onset of winter, they have arrived. They represent the intentionality
and hard work of family farmers and the wondrous fertile soil
of the great Central Valley. We hope that they will brighten
for you the drear of winter and serve as a symbols of what
Americans can achieve.
We received so many requests from you for Alive
Pecan Butter; we are delighted to bring it to you! Your suggestions
are invaluable to us! Although the pecan originated here,
nowadays most organic pecans come from Peru. Our pecans, however,
are grown in Texas and with them we produce a most delicious
pecan butter.
A few weeks ago we introduced our black sesame
truffles and are delighted with your response. They are definitely
on the leading edge; there is nothing comparable. There has
been a lot of discussion about cacao powder in live food circles.
We invite you to try ours. It is from Bali where it is crafted
with care to assure its aliveness. Then there are our walnuts;
they too are grown in the Central Valley by family farmers.
They are also the new crop. Walnuts are a good source of omega-3
and omega-6 essential fatty acids.
Imagine creating an alive pecan pie: --
the crust could be made from chopped almonds, walnuts, raisins
and honey pressed into a pie plate. The filing would consist
of our pecan butter and almond butter mixed with pureed raisins
and chopped and pitted Medjool dates. Put it in the fridge
to harden and set. The only problem is that it is exceedingly
rich. But then we advocate vigorous exercise as an integral
part of a live food diet!

is the fig you've been awaiting! Noted for its delicious,
nut-like flavor. It is the smyrna fig from Turkey; long
ago crowned best-tasting fig of all. It was brought
to California in the 19th century, its name was changed
to Calimyrna- a combination of California and Smyrna.
